He just completed a "solo" exhibition in Cuzco, from Sept 5-15, 2001, at the "Museum of Arte Contemporaneo", where he was highly acclaimed by friends and authorities from diverse cultural and artistic backgrounds.

Hugo Bejar Navarro has been painting for almost 50 years. His paintings reflect all this experience. He has master all the mediums; oil, watercolor, acrylic, murals, mixed media on wood. He likes to combine strong, earth colors, with sometimes soft, or bold, architectural lines. His style varies from the indigenous style of the great master, Diego Rivera to the abstracts of great Americans and European painters.

If you walk in Cuzco, capital of the Inca Empire, you will have the opportunity to admire Hugo's murals, full of color, tradition, and history. His murals are in exhibition at the old, traditional hotels, like "Hotel Cuzco", where he painted "Palla Isabel Chimpu Occllo" mother of the famous colonial/indigenous writer Inca Garcilazo de la Vega and also at the University of Cuzco, where he painted and coach his students to paint several murals.

Born in San Blas, heart of Cuzco, land of the Inca Empire, Hugo gets his inspiration from his love for his land, his culture, his traditions, and his people. His paintings transpire cultural messages and the love for his land. Hugo has represented Peru in several countries where he has been highly respected for his art. His paintings have been on exhibition in Argentina; Bolivia, Mexico, Dominican Republica, Uruguay, Italy.

His name and paintings are frequently mentioned in Art Books and Encyclopedias in Peru, and Argentina.
