After graduation, he attended the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Art, in Chicago, among others. Throughout his long career he has attended, & still attends, numerous workshops in the Midwest as well as on both the East & West Coasts. The artist's fifty plus years of formal training, continuing education, research & development, is an ongoing exploration of a wide variety of mediums used to develop various painting techniques & methods. It allows this artist to continue to define, & redefine, his modes of expression, develop specific areas applicable to his individual art form, & establish techniques sympathetic to those expressions. It all creates a true master artist extremely fluent in many mediums & highly accomplished in a diversity of techniques.
This expertise is apparent in the outstanding quality of composition & imagery, particularly in his many current works. It translates his art & design abilities in a concise impressionistic manner that invokes rewarding reactions. The artwork generates an interaction between the art & the viewer speaking with deep understanding and truth. It is a stimulating experience to witness such phenomena. This fact is recognized in the many awards & honors received over the years, not to mention the numbers of special private commissions.
Richard Bagguley paintings are displayed in museums & prized in both private & corporate art collections throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, & Japan. His paintings have appeared prominently in television commercials as a symbol of the company, or 'de facto' logo, if you will. In addition, many paintings have appeared in set backgrounds of popular & well known television shows. He has also done a poster (now out of print) & illustrations for informative commercial brochures.
